My Design Process

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a collection of guidelines to help search engines (Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, etc.) find your website, understand its contents, and advertise it to your customers.

User Experience-Focused Design

A focus on the user experience means that customers will be able to use your website with ease regardless of how comfortable they are with technology.

Wireframing

I use wireframes to mock up drafts of website designs in order to visualize and edit the layout. This allows me to see how the design flows from one concept to the next and to show my clients a visual representation of my ideas that is easy to edit and move on from.

Mood Boards

Collections of different types of inspiration can be helpful at the beginning of a design project. I like mood boards, because they help me gather my thoughts at the start of a project. When making mood boards for clients I include color swatches, typefaces, and sample photography.

Mobile Optimized

All of my designs are crafted with mobile users in mind from the beginning. Your custom website will be beautiful on any screen size.

FAQ

Turnaround on custom websites depends a lot on the scope of the project. Factors that will help to determine the timeframe of the project include: the size of the website (how many webpages are needed), how much if any copywriting is provided by the client, etc.

For example, a 5 page website with copywriting provided by the client and simple design choices can be completed in 2 weeks assuming there are no delays in signing paperwork. Larger projects or projects that require a lot of custom designing will take longer.

Yes I will be available to fix any bugs after launch. I can also make time for us to sit down for a 1-on-1 tutorial session if you are not confident in your technical abilities.

If you would prefer to not make content updates yourself after launch, I would also be happy to do them for you at my hourly rate of $100 USD/hour.

Your site should only need a few plugin updates every now and then that only take a moment or two to download.

Yes! I design each website to look beautiful whether your customer opens it on a desktop or on mobile.

I will send an initial invoice along with my proposal for the project after our first meeting. A deposit of $200 will be due at this time to secure your spot in my calendar. This initial invoice will be updated as needed to reflect services rendered. All service changes from the initial proposal will be proposed in writing and signed off on before being completed. Once you sign off on the final design I will send over the final invoice with an itemized list of services rendered. Once the invoice is paid I will launch the website and turn the controls over to you.

Step 2: Respond to my request for a meeting promptly.

Step 3: Fill out the Onboarding Questionnaire before our meeting. Send the completed questionnaire to me along with your existing branding, if any, (logo, brand colors, slogans, etc.).

Step 4: Attend our meeting.

Step 5: Respond promptly (less than 2 weeks) with feedback to my proposal and draft with feedback.

Step 6: Respond promptly to the final draft with any detail changes.

Step 7: Set up web hosting and buy a domain for your website to launch. (I can walk you through this step).
